here is my latest favorite jon foreman song. i am not completely sure what it is about and i have been on the hunt for the meaning, but i still find the song playing in my head all the time. for me, i think it has been a reminder of my brokenness. i think of the things i have messed up the people i have hurt and wish i could change it, but i cannot. i have tried and only made things worse. i have been broken from the start...

I understood it to be a song about the choice of whether or not to end a relationship. In looking at his choice, he sees the bigger reality of life and its choices. His ultimate conclusion is that all choices lead to death - which appears to have a double meaning.
The chorus is the hardest part for me to understand, though. It just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the song - lyrically or melodically.
Great song though. Jon Foreman is the first Christian artist I have sincere respect for since Rich Mullins and Steven Curtis Chapman.

i also thought it was about a relationship, but could have a dual meaning. maybe someday i will get to meet mr. foreman personally and find out what the meaning is.
