jesus said to them, “have you never read in the Scriptures:
“‘the stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
this was the lord's doing,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’?therefore i tell you, the kingdom of god will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits. and the one who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him.” when the chief priests and the pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. and although they were seeking to arrest him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a prophet."- matthew 21:42-46
“o jerusalem, jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! how often would i have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! see, your house is left to you desolate. for i tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, 'blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord.’”- matthew 23:37-39
then satan entered into judas called iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve. he went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them. and they were glad, and agreed to give him money. so he consented and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of a crowd.
